At least one of the them will be unveiled in July 2016

Motorola doesn't have launch events planned for Q1 2016, which is understandable since the US-based company has been recently acquired by Lenovo.

The acquisition allows Lenovo to penetrate markets like the United States, which would otherwise be out of its reach. That's why the Motorola brand will continue to exist, and the upper management of the company won't be changed much.

Due to its vast experience in the US market, Motorola will probably be the one to launch high-end smartphones in the country, not Lenovo.

Speaking of which, the first Motorola smartphone for this year is expected to be unveiled in July 2016. We don't know if it's a high-end Moto X or a budget-friendly Moto G. What we do know is that it will be stamped with the Moto brand rather than Motorola.

Although we still have several months until the next Motorola smartphone goes official, a few early prototype units of the 2016 Moto X and Moto G have been recently caught on camera.

Some of the pictures published by HelloMotoHK are blurry, so we can't say for sure what the smartphones will look like.

Plastic and metal back cover, pink color in the cards

Not to mention that these are early prototypes, so Motorola and Lenovo have yet to decide on their smartphones' design. As you can notice from these pictures, the companies are taking into consideration both plastic and metal for the back covers.

These dummy units also show that Motorola might launch pink versions of its phones, which isn't unusual for the US-based company but good to know since it's not always the case. We're also expecting different specs for some of its upcoming smartphones, based on the market.

Unfortunately, these low-res pictures do not come with any details on specs, but since July is so far ahead, we don't doubt that there will be plenty of leaks that will offer us a glimpse of what's to come.
