The 2014 UK National Photography Awards is now accepting submissions from all students, amateur, and professional photographers residents in the UK.

The competition accepts entries regardless of genre, providing anyone in the UK who has a passion for photography with the chance to gain exposure and recognition for their work. Submissions will be judged on a monthly basis, with the judges giving the national award winning status to all photos that manage to achieve a bronze, silver, gold, or diamond level.

Along with the winners of every themed competition organized each month, all images that are given a silver status or higher will be automatically entered into the relevant category for the Photographer of the Year awards.

Besides that, there's also a “Young Photographer of the Year” award for photographers aged between 12 and 17 and a “Judges Choice Award” for all the images that can't be included in any of the award's categories.

Speaking of categories, this year's photographers will compete in the following themes: Wedding, Portrait, Wildlife, Landscape, Sports, Newborn, Travel, Boudoir & Glamour, Fashion, Advertising, Equestrian, and Astronomy.

Each category will have three finalists who will be invited towards the end of the year to the 2014 Awards Ceremony, also called the “Oscars of the Photography Industry” that celebrates the best British photographers of the 2014. During this ceremony, one lucky photographer will receive the NPA British Photographer of the Year 2014 award.

If you're wondering who will be judging your photos, you should know that, this year, the NPA chose some of the best British photographers and key industry figures, including former BBC photographer and current editor of leading industry magazines “Professional Photographer” and “Photography Monthly,” Adam Scorey, and Geoff Harris, editor of “Digital Camera,” the UK's best-selling photography magazine.

“Our mission is to encourage excellence and give talented photographers the confidence and platform to achieve their career goals. We've received some fantastic entries so far and look forward to seeing a high standard of submissions throughout the year,” said Claire Garner, Cambridgeshire-based photographer and one of the judges of the NPA.
