The remote control was a big deal when it was finally invented, and over the decades, it has caused a myriad of domestic scuffles, with all family members seeking control of it. Now, Samsung is about launch something that could cause even more chaos. Said “something” is a Smart TV set that not only responds to voice commands, but can also track your hand gestures.

More specifically, it will be able to “watch” you and see the moves you sketch with your fingers. You'll be able to stop a movie by making a spinning motion, or go back to a previous screen or photo.

Changing the channel is even easier. All you have to do (or will have to do since the product isn't available yet) is say the channel number.

Furthermore, opening an app can be done in the same manner, and you can even conduct information searches if your web connection is alive and ready.

Even as you watch sports or stocks, you can order a pop-up window to appear and search info, although you'll still need to use the small remote for clicking the pop-up itself.

“Samsung’s 2014 Smart TV models deliver significantly improved voice interaction and motion control features so that our consumers will be able to enjoy our Smart TV more intuitively,” said Kyungshik Lee, senior vice president of the service strategy team of visual display business, Samsung Electronics.

“We will continue to develop content that integrates voice and motion recognition for added convenience.”

The voice-enabled, motion tracking Smart TV from Samsung will make it to 23 countries, or at least the Voice Interaction technology will.

As for the finger gesture control technology, it's bound to be used in many other displays, even if there will be only one on show at CES 2014 (Consumer Electronics Show), taking place in January in Las Vegas, Nevada.
