14 DAY TRIAL // The crème de la crème of the music industry gathered at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 18, which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Sin City, aka Las Vegas. It was packed with memorable moments, funny moments and surprises all around.
Probably the most anticipated moment was the hologram performance given by Michael Jackson, the King of Pop, and it seemed only fitting that on the night that he was shortly resurrected on stage, the new King of Pop, Justin Timberlake swept wins in just about every category he was nominated.
All in all, Justin took home seven prizes, including top artists and Billboard 200 album, which are some of the most important prizes in the award show, and he did it all via video, accepting his awards from overseas.
The singer got visibly more excited with every win and ended up exclaiming “I want to thank everybody on Earth, everybody on Earth, except, except Donald Sterling.”
Jackson's holographic performance was set up by his estate and it showed the late superstar perform his signature moonwalk on the background of his new track “Slave to the Rhythm” that is taken from his recent album “Xscape.”
Another remote performance was given by Katy Perry, who managed to take home the top female artist prize. However, among the artists who gave live performances in Las Vegas, were Imagine Dragons, the locally-based rockers, who were awarded no fewer than five prizes in as many categories, including best duo/group and rock act.
