The IPPI (iPhone Photography Awards) has announced this year’s winners, presenting a huge range of stunning images taken with the iPhone’s camera.

Whether they were taken on the iPhone 4S or the iPhone 5, these photos aren’t just the result of a finely crafted camera. In fact, the camera had very little to do with it.

It’s all about the person holding the camera and, with a bit of retouching here and there, you can achieve truly beautiful shots.

iPhone Photography Awards is the first and the longest-running iPhone photography contest.

Started in 2007, around the time the first iPhone came out, “IPPAWARDS has been celebrating the creativity of the iPhone users since the first iPhone has inspired, excited and engaged the users worldwide.”

IPPAWARDS collects the best works from all corners of the world (38 countries, to be precise), and the winners are selected by the jury members in several steps, based on carefully selected photography criteria.

The Photographer of the Year receives a prize, and all other winners are published online and get to be part of The IPPAWARDS Interactive Annual series of books on iTunes.

The IPPAWARDS books include a collection of the winners from the last 4 years.

The organizers say, “If you’ve ever lingered over an image framed on your iPhone screen to coax out a different angle of light, or found yourself reaching for your iPhone to capture an image just because it struck you, you’re likely to find both validation and inspiration in this artfully designed book.”

The group reveals that all images are taken solely on the iPhone, and no Photoshop is allowed, though you can employ image editing software on the phone itself.

After all, some images can become stunning works of art by tweaking the lighting just a little bit.
