Even though media slates are gaining traction, Fujitsu is still quite mindful of the fact that physical keyboards are far from disappearing from the mobile segment, so the company is working on yet another convertible tablet, the Lifebook T580, a 10-inch device which runs on an Intel Core i5 CPU.

So far, tablet makers have focused on multimedia capabilities and long battery life, especially since the lack of a physical keyboard somewhat restricts the usability anyway, touch input or no.

Fujitsu, thus, did not scrap the keyboard when it designed the Lifebook T580 and even gave the contraption a more powerful processor that is sure to give competitors a run for their money.

Basically, the device has an Intel Core i5 central processing unit at its heart, though the exact chip has not been disclosed yet.

In fact, whatever information exists on this slate is known because of a report published by RegHardware.

The Lifebook T580 has a display of 10 inches which can twist and turn, allowing the tablet PC to switch between a notebook and a tablet form factor.

The screen also supports touch and stylus input, for an advanced level of interactivity between man and machine.

What's more, the product comes with a 3G modem option and a built-in GPS, as well as a fairly powerful battery that will keep it operational for up to 8 hours.

All in all, Fujitsu's invention should clearly outdo its competitors, the iPad included, in terms of performance, though the full specifications are still unknown.

There is no way of knowing when more information will sprout up, but the tablet will supposedly make its official debut in the first quarter of 2011.

This means that it may take some time for the exact CPU to be revealed, though one can assume it is quite energy-efficient if it allows the battery to last for so long.
