All the defendants are customers of the same Internet provider

After in October 2011 it decided to drop the lawsuit filed against Internet users who illegally downloaded the Hurt Locker movie, Voltage Pictures returns with another similar court action, targeting 2,514 individuals suspected of piracy.

The new lawsuit, filed in Florida, is the studio’s attempt to recover the losses caused by piracy, TorrentFreak reports.

If last time it went after a record number of users, 24,583 to be more precise, this time the movie makers settle for 10 times less.

In this case, all the defendants seem to have downloaded the motion picture back in 2010, all being customers of the same ISP, Charter Communications.

The fact that Voltage Pictures target the subscribers of this specific ISP may mean that the company knows precisely that Charter keeps IP address logs for more than 2 years and that it might be willing to hand over accountholder records without too many objections.
