1Password, the powerful password manager developed by Agile Web Solutions, has received an update on the desktop side. Currently supported on Mac OS X, iPhone, iPod touch and now the iPad, 1Password is Agile Web Solutions’ flagship product, with well over 100 updates since its original introduction on the Macintosh in May 19, 2006.

Working seamlessly in modern web browsers like Apple’s Safari, as well as Firefox, Camino, and Flock, 1Password stores all of one's information into the built-in Keychain. The newest version of 1Password for Mac OS X is 3.1.1. According to the “version history” page at the developer’s site, “This update improves Wi-Fi sync with iPhone and iPad.”

The “full changelog” mentions the addition of an iPad image to sync authorization window, and a fixed problem with sync spinner showing incorrectly in the sidebar. The software requires the Agile Keychain data format. Users are required to make sure they upgrade their 1Password data to the new format before installing 1Password 3. 1Password starts at $39.95 – single-user license. A Family license costs $59.95. 1Password is licensed on a per-person basis (a single license can be used by one person on as many Macs as they can afford), in order to reduce the total cost of the ownership.

The mobile version of the application (for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad) has also received an update recently. Version 3.1 adds a “Show All Login Fields” setting on the iPad, options to reveal and conceal to menu for password fields on iPad, shortened touch and hold time on iPad alongside some improvements to the way users view info on the device’s screen, and other improvements and bug fixes. The mobile version of the app securely stores a website’s names and passwords, in its simplest form.
