Working seamlessly in modern web browsers like Apple’s Safari, as well as Firefox, Camino, and Flock, 1Password stores all of one's information into the built-in Keychain. There is also a mobile version of the application. The iPhone client, appropriately named 1Password Touch, securely stores a website’s names and passwords.

Agile Web Solutions reveals that the latest update, 1Password 3.0.5 (build #30507), includes improvements in search and startup performance, makes Restore from Backup more reliable, and adds German and Russian localizations, while fixing several bugs. On a more detailed note, the company reveals that it has completely changed internal 1Password packaging to enable easy product localization, and more. Other changes include:

- 1Password now supports search and smart-folders using item creation and modification dates. - Improved data folder change tracking. This should help greatly in improving overall performance and speed up data change detection. - Improved main 1Password application startup time. - Now displaying progress indicator when loading the data file. - Made Restore from Backup more reliable, especially for users restoring .agilekeychain_folder backups. - Browser Go & Fill menu is now disabled when 1Password is locked. - Improved credit card filling. - Made sure that 1PasswordAgent version always matches 1Password version. This will allow correct downgrades by simply replacing 1Password.app. - Improved diagnostics. - Now always using Safari to open 1Password help files. - Check for updates message is now slightly different when you use a beta build.

1Password 3 requires the Agile Keychain data format. Users are required to make sure they upgrade their 1Password data to the new format before installing 1Password 3. 1Password starts at $39.95 – single-user license. A Family license costs $59.95. The software is licensed on a per-person basis (a single license can be used by one person on as many Macs as they can afford), in order to reduce the total cost of the ownership.
