Agile Web Solutions has released a new update for its password manager and form filler for Mac OS X, 1Password. Version 2.2.9 is fresh out of beta containing almost two dozen new additions, changes and bug fixes.

According to the release notes for 1Password 2.2.9, Agile web solutions has added support for Safari 4 beta, a 1Password menu item to the iCab browser, as well as support for keyboard shortcuts and 1Password menu item to Fluid Site-Specific browsers. Other changes and improvements include:

- Improved average Agile Keychain load time. - Improved import from Safari and Firefox. - Improved built-in documentation. - Improved License window to ignore invalid input. - Now displaying 'Fill Last Generated Password' when it does not match passwords in the saved Logins. - Reduced 1Password application bundle size. - Changed keychain lock keyboard shortcut to ⌘⇧-L to avoid accidental mix up with ⌘-L shortcut frequently used in the web. - Changed select Search bar keyboard shortcut to ⌘-⌥-F to follow Mac OS X conventions. - Now supports drag-n-drop of the existing 1Password.keychain (OS X Keychain) in Welcome screen. - Improved support for localization.

Agile Web Solutions also claims it was able to improve import performance, thus fixing potential issues when importing with browsers open. The team of developers behind the most powerful password manager known to “Mac” also fixed a problem with deleting items in Trash that could occur when syncing Agile Keychain using Dropbox service. Other issues have been addressed as well (read full changelog).

For those who aren't very familiar with the application, 1Password is designed to remember all the online passwords that you insert on any web page or form, anytime, by using one single (master) countersign. The software integrates directly into most browsers, and sports built-in, anti-phishing and keylogger protection. Mac owners can easily manage hundreds of passwords with one key. It supports Firefox, Camino, OmniWeb, DEVONagent, NetNewsWire, and of course, Apple's own Safari. Opera, unfortunately, isn't supported. An iPhone version of the app is also available for download via the iTunes App Store.

1Password starts at $39.95 - Single User license. A Family license costs $59.95. 1Password is licensed on a per-person basis (a single license can be used by one person on as many Macs as they can afford), in order to reduce 1Password's total cost of ownership. By using the link below, you can update to the latest version, try out 1Password for free in demo mode, or buy a copy of the software. 1Password requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). It is a Universal application, suitable for both Intel-based Macs, and PowerPC machines.
