Agile Web Solutions has released the second update this month for its powerful password manager and form filler for Mac OS X users, 1Password. The new release adds close to a dozen changes and improvements. The update is free for registered users. Read on for the details.

1Password does a great job as a password manager, but also as a form filler. It eliminates the stress of having to fill dozens of fields when ordering something as small as a pair of socks on Amazon. It has been designed to remember all your online passwords that you can insert on any web page or form, anytime, by using one single (master) password.

The application integrates directly into most browsers, and sports built-in anti-phishing and keylogger protection. Using 1Password, Mac owners can easily manage hundreds of passwords with one key, while an iPhone version of the app is also available for download via the iTunes App Store. 1Password supports Firefox, Camino, OmniWeb, DEVONagent, NetNewsWire, and of course, Apple's own Safari.

Now, let's see about those 2.9.3 release notes. First off, you've got "Web Forms" renamed to "Logins"; the license registration window has been simplified, while the app now displays potential Wi-Fi sync issues in Sync with iPhone window. 1Password 2.9.3 also makes sure the “Add” button is never disabled when adding a new wallet item, and has added more diagnostics and logging to Wi-Fi sync. An improved error logging mechanism has been included with the Agile Keychain as well. 1Password now makes sure Parallels "applications," such as Firefox for Windows, are not included when granting keychain permissions. Also regarding Firefox, the keyboard shortcuts have been improved for 1Password's Firefox extension.

Lastly, Agile Web Solutions has added extra safety checks in the code that stores the master password in the Mac OS X keychain, and has Improved the 1Password Agent for installation and removal.

1Password costs $39.95 for a Single User license, or $59.95 for a Family license. The software is licensed on a per-person basis (a single license can be used by one person on as many Macs as they can afford), in order to reduce 1Password's total cost of ownership. A free trial version is available for download using the link below. The same link can be used to update your current version for free. 1Password requires Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) or Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), and is a Universal Binary.
