There is a new competitor on the very high-end computer memory market today and it looks like it just stole the speed crown from the traditional extreme memory champion, OCZ. The Super Talent company just announced in a press conference the release of a new DDR3 computer memory kit that is the world's fastest mass production DDR3 memory. Called W1866UX2G8, this is the new 2GB DDR3 memory kit that "was tested and guaranteed to operate at 1866MHz (PC3-14900) at extremely low latencies".

The kit comes in the form of two DDR3 memory modules, each with 1GB, running at 1866MHz and supporting low latencies (for DDR3 that is) 8-8-8-24 and - according to the Super Talent's press release - it "is built with the fastest available, carefully screened DRAM chips, and is hand tested as a matched pair on a dual channel Asus P5K3 Deluxe motherboard at its rated specs at 1.9 volts".

Super Talent Marketing Director, Joe James commented, "We're applying vast engineering resources to drive DDR3 performance to higher levels. This low latency 1866 Kit is the result of exhaustive testing and sorting of components, and this product stands without rival as the fastest DDR3 memory in the world." This product follows on the heels of Super Talent's very popular DDR3-1600 CL7 kit. Mr. James added, "Our DDR3 strategy is to be first to market with industry standard speed grades - 1333, 1600, and 1866 - and to optimize performance by supporting the lowest possible latencies".

As high running clock frequencies and the low latencies are used on the W1866UX2G8 memory kits, they come equipped with Super Talent's black cast aluminum heatsinks in order to ensure proper cooling and thus optimal operation around the clock. Just like all other high end memory products, Super Talent's DDR3 memory kits come with a lifetime warranty. As the DDR3 market is just beginning to expand, computer memory producers like OCZ and Super Talent are rushing in to launch the fastest available memory kits, in an attempt to gain as much of the market share as possible. Super Talent's memory, while the fastest DDR3 memory kit in the world, for now at least, has a price tag that might scare off most customers: $625.
