When it comes to portable storage media, Lexar, a leading global provider of flash memory products, can probably offer you some of the best solutions out there. The company specializes in the manufacturing of portable storage solutions, including memory cards, USB flash drives, SSDs and related accessories. Recently, Lexar Media has introduced a new 16GB solution, part of the company's JumpDrive Secure II Plus family.

The massive 16GB storage space is the biggest capacity to be featured on any of Lexar's JumpDrive Secure II Plus USB flash drives. While most of today's flash drives can provide a maximum storage capacity of 8GB, the new Lexar product doubles that amount to ensure that users are able to store larger files and higher amounts of data. Furthermore, the new drive also features a built-in capacity meter that informs the owner of the flash drive how much storage space remains available, thus eliminating the need of plugging the USB stick into a computer system.

"Today's consumers are looking for maximum storage capacity and advanced security protection in their USB storage devices. Our new 16GB-capacity JumpDrive Secure II Plus offers the proven data protection and reliability that people have come to expect from Lexar and our Secure II products, with dramatically expanded storage capabilities," noted Darrell Hill, senior product marketing manager at Lexar Media.

As with all of the company's JumpDrive Secure II Plus drives, the new 16GB-capacity solution has been equipped with an advanced security software that allows users to quickly and easily secure their data. There's also a File Shredder feature, which basically erases any undesired file, including the hidden "digital trail" that is normally left behind upon deleting certain files.

The 16GB Lexar JumpDrive Secure II Plus is scheduled to become available later in September for a suggested retail price of US$99.
