This past Sunday, a king cobra measuring an impressive 15 feet (roughly 4.5 meters) in length was captured in a residential area in Andhra Pradesh's East Godavari district in India.

The people who found the snake and captured it imagined that the local Visakhapatnam Zoological Park would like to keep it and put it on display, so they brought it to this facility.

However, staff at the Visakhapatnam Zoological Park turned them down on the grounds that the reptile was far too big for them to be able to afford looking after it.

More so given the fact that evidence indicated that the 15-foot (4.5-meter) long king cobra was pregnant and was soon to deliver a new generation, Times of India reports.

Hence, it was agreed upon that the best thing to do was to allow the snake to return to the wild, the same source informs. Thus, the cobra was taken to a deep forest between Visakhapatnam and East Godavari district agency area, and set free.

According to wildlife researchers, it seldom happens that king cobras this big are found in India. It is believed that the snake left its home and headed for the residential area in which it was found as a result of deforestation.
