As of November 25, Nintendo will set up a huge number of hotspots throughout Europe, in an attempt to fight back the much more popular PSP console. By the end of this year, the Nintendo DS will have support from over 15,000 hotspots on the old continent and more than half will be in the UK.

Nintendo is really serious about this WiFi meets DS project, as it has also signed an agreement with McDonald's, which allows Nintendo to install hotspots in over 6,000 fast food restaurants.

Building a strong gaming community that has the ability to also enjoy games while on the go is the perfect plan for Nintendo and actually one of the only chances it has to compete against Sony's PSP, which offers better video quality and bigger processing power.

Nintendo will also launch a new website, where users can input a postcode to find the location of the nearest hotspot. The site will also give gamers the chance to check how their high scores compare with other players', and will offer technical support - those with wireless networks at home will be able to search a database of more than 200 routers for advice on configuration.
