US Government in Monster Theft!

Data leaks have recently affected lots of people and a site containing personal information of more than 2 million users has been breached. Hackers bypassed the defenses and stole sensitive info that a lot of people had placed on that page. The website that we are talking about is USAjobs and it is a governmental website, offered by the United Stated to help people get a job a lot easier.

There has been a huge trojan operation that has hit Monster Worldwide, hackers being able to steal the data of 1.6 million people, as some sites report. The USAjobs site had been run by Monster on behalf of the government, so its hacking was clearly a part of the original "Trojan Onslaught".

The personal data of about 146.000 people from the government's site had been compromised so the site has been taken down just to protect the rest of the users, but it will soon be backed up. The thing is this hacker practice is not something new and there's not much users can do to prevent this from happening - it's all about web defenses here.

The stolen information included names, mailing addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses, as SMH informs. The good thing is that social security numbers have not been stolen as they were encrypted in the database.

So, if you are affected by this - should you worry? Well, having your data stolen is something pretty nasty, but they can't do anything with it, if you are cautious. Generally, when hackers steal a lot of info, they use it to scam people. They send e-mails to their victims and pretend to be high-profile corporations. In those mails they include the info that has been stolen, to make them look genuine, thus tricking users to either click on certain links or give away more info and stuff like that. So, even if your info has been stolen by hackers, you are not in any direct danger, if you are careful, that is...
