Even though there is a sort of limit on what size a Pine Trail-based system can have, a certain Chinese PC maker has put together a laptop that uses an Atom CPU while featuring a notebook's size.

As end-users know, the Intel Pine Trail platform is the main one used in today's entry-level systems, both mobile and non-mobile.

Nettops usually end up equipped with Atom D Series chips, while netbooks use Atom N processors and rarely have a screen size of over 10.1 inches.

A certain supplier in China, however, was found to have bypassed both of these conventions by creating a larger than usual laptop with netbook specs.

The device in question, according to Shanzhaiben, is dubbed VPCEA47EC and uses the Atom D525 processor, which has a clock speed of 1.8 GHz.

The machine also boasts the ION 2 graphics solution, which has full reign over the display, whose native resolution is of 1,366 x 768 pixels.

14 inches is the size of the panel, and this can be seen as one of, if not the most unusual traits of this entry-level mobile personal computer.

The rest of the feature set appears to try and pack as much performance as is feasible for the Pine Trail-ION 2 combination.

2 GB of RAM are present, as is a hard disk drive with a capacity of 320 GB, plus a DVD writer, which handles any optical storage tasks and even video playback from DVDs.

Other specifications include an SD card slot, the obligatory LAN for web access and an HDMI output, which lets one stream media to an auxiliary monitor or HDTV.

Finally, the VPCEA47EC is powered by a 3-cell 2,400 mAh battery and has a fairly generic black casing. It should already be selling in China, at a price of $342.
