A 13-year-old boy in Maryland got himself in a bit of a legal hurdle when, this past Friday, he had the audacity to kiss a classmate without her permission.

The girl was so upset about it that she complained about the incident to her teachers, who in turn contacted local law enforcement officers and turned the boy in.

The 13-year-old kissed the girl on a dare

This teenage romance gone wrong played out at Pikesville Middle School, just north west of Baltimore, DM tells us.

By the looks of it, the 13-year-old boy did not kiss his 14-year-old classmate because he desperately wanted to. Rather, he did it on a dare.

Thus, reports say it was his peers who kept winding him up until he eventually caved in, walked up to the girl and planted one on her.

Disgruntled about being smooched against her will, the young girl complained about the boy's behavior to her teachers.

Soon enough, assault charges were filed

To teach the boy a lesson about respecting the ladies and make sure he would never again kiss a girl without her explicit permission, the teachers alerted authorities.

Police officers didn't take long to arrive at Pikesville Middle School and, shortly after, second-degree assault charges were filed against the 13-year-old boy.

Being just a teenager, the boy was charged as a juvenile, reports say. All the same, it's safe to assume his parents aren't exactly proud of him right about now.

The police officers who investigated the case reassure the kiss didn't lead to any injuries, even though the 14-year-old put up a fight when her classmate approached her.

For the time being, it is unclear whether the school will too take disciplinary measures against the boy and suspend him. There's been no talk of expulsion either.

When interviewed by the press, many locals in Baltimore argued that the school could have easily handled the issue without calling the police and turning the boy in.
