Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation is preparing the release of new devices running under Microsoft's Windows Phone operating system, and one of these devices would pack a 12-megapixel photo snapper, some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Update: A video presentation of Mango, coming from the same source as the photos attached to this article, is available at the bottom of the article.

Smartphones with high-quality cameras are already available on the market, but those who run Windows Phone do not sport more than 8-megapixel.

This HTC smartphone, supposedly called HTC Maaza, would change that, bringing a 12-megapixel photo snapper on Microsoft's side.

For the time being, specific info on the device lacks, but we can already have a look at it, courtesy of photos coming from Mobile-review's Eldar Murtazin (Twitter, via).

From the outside, the device looks very much like the HTC Trophy, though it would be only a pre-production unit, and not final hardware, that's for sure.

According to some of the info that emerged into the wild, this device, looking a lot like the HTC Trophy, available in the US too since last week, on Verizon Wireless' airwaves, would be capable of shooting 12MP 4000 x 3000 images. The mobile phone is also said to come to shelves with support for RAW format, which clearly shows that the next Windows Phones would include improved settings in the camera application.

This is further proved by the emergence of rumors regarding the upcoming availability of another HTC Windows Phone, the Bresson, which should pack a 16-megtapixel photo snapper.

When talking about this new 12MP HTC device, Eldar Murtazin states that it is not the Nokia W7, which would suggest that the Finnich handset vendor is also set to release such a smartphone into the wild.

The Nokia W7 name already made it into the wild before, but specific info on what this Windows Phone device would include when made available for purchase lack at the moment.

Hopefully, more on the matter would emerge as the release date for these handsets, supposedly running under Mango, would near, so stay tuned to learn the news.
