A new study by Chitika reveals that 10 percent of the iPad traffic done in the United States stems from third-generation iPads.

One month after releasing the new iPad, Apple is seeing tremendous adoption trends. Not that it wasn’t expected of Apple, but the new iPad doesn’t seem to offer too many benefits (compared to its predecessors) at first glance.

Nonetheless, it seems that the tech savvy American population was sold on the Retina display and went out to buy one. Currently, 11% of all iPad users are on the new iPad, says Chitika.

According to the metrics firm, the Chitika Insights iPad Tracker is one of the only available tools to accurately track the rate of adoption of the new iPad in real time.

“After surpassing a 5% adoption rate (relative to all iPads) after only four days on the market, The new iPad has been steadily gaining share on a daily basis,” says the firm.

“While this rapid increase can likely be attributed to early adopters of the product, a much more impressive feat lies in the tablet's sustained growth in share since its release.”

Chitika believes the 10% threshold is much more than an indicator of adoption. According to the study, “symbolic meaning cannot be dismissed.”

Chitika analysts elaborate:

“Simply put, The new iPad stands as a prime example of what any company could hope for. IDC reports that Apple holds the place of the most dominant tablet manufacturer in the world, and with consumers on the verge of viewing the idea of a tablet as synonymous with an iPad, the odds are looking pretty good. This optimism is also mirrored in Apple’s stock price, which has risen over 100% in the last twelve months.”

The new iPad has the potential to approach majority use in geo-specific regions across the United States, considering that the current growth is any indication of future growth.
