Even though the mobile communication industry is blooming, not many of us can afford the ultimate gadget, especially if we want to use the device exclusively for the social purposes it brings. [ADAMRK=1]Things aren't easy for some mobile manufacturers as the competition becomes rougher everyday.

Motorola launched one of the thinnest phones on the market, which beyond its remarkable size, has incredible features like dust and sun resistance, easy to use local language voice prompts or extended battery life.

Motorola had a tremendous success with RAZR mobile phone, so it thought that it might be a good idea to continue the RAZR campaign. But the audience were not convinced.

Especially after Ron Garriques is said to be no longer the head of the company mobile device business, Motorola showed signs of management problems. Also the profits have fallen and a lot of employees were fired.

Still, Motorola manages to brings good news to people that cannot afford a smashing new mobile phone. The company intends to sell a $10 phone directly on the streets, so that anyone who doesn't have a mobile phone yet, can be free to buy it without extra charge.

The company relies on the Taiwanese contract manufacturers, like Taiwan's Quanta that is the top maker of the 100$ OLPC laptop computer systems.

The idea is much likely to be materialized in a couple of years. The only problem that the company is facing is weather the phone will be launched too late on the market, or if the idea will actually not be a successful one after all.
