Microsoft is ready to hand out no less than 10 copies of Windows 7 Ultimate to just as many winners of a new contest designed to get IT professionals to share their best Windows 7 experiences with the world.

The Redmond company is touting a large and strongly involved community built around IT pros hubs such as TechNet, with in excess of 310,000 Windows 7 posts already published.

Microsoft’s Stephen L Rose revealed that the software giant introduced the new “Best Windows Story” contest in order to get IT pros a chance to detail more about their experience with the adoption of Windows 7.

“IT pros, we’d love to hear your story about how you installed, migrated, upgrade or deployed Windows 7 Professional or Enterprise in your organization and we’ll pick the ten best stories to win a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (32 or 64 bit). (Please note, we are only looking for IT pro submissions for this contest),” Rose stated.

As I’ve said at the start of this article, Microsoft will offer 10 grand prizes, with each winners walking away with a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.

The contest is limited to IT professionals in the United States. In order to enter, participants will need to send an email to WinStory at microsoft.com with their story attached. Official rules here.

“We’re accepting submissions (English only) beginning 12/15/2010 and ending 01/31/2011. Some suggestions for the best stories are those that show how you or your organization were faced with challenges and how you overcame them,” Rose added.

“The better you write a compelling story to show how “Windows 7 saved the day”and helped your organization or how challenges were overcome in a clear and concise manner, the better chance you have to win.

"Winners will be judged on the most compelling stories. Keep in mind that long stories are not necessarily more compelling.”
