There will be 50 designs eventually, but most probably won't show up before CES 2014

Unlike the Broadwell central processing unit collection, the Bay Trail line of Atom chips won't be delayed. Instead, it will show up in various devices even before December rolls around.

Sure, the low-cost Bay Trail units will only debut in the second quarter of 2014, but that doesn't affect the first batch.

By the end of November, there should be ten devices running a Bay Trail CPU out on the market.

The first round of tablets will run the 32-bit version of Windows 8.1 (64-bit will only arrive in Q1 2014).

Given the Bay Trail support for Burst Technology 2.0, the resolution of 2560 x 1600 and improvements to battery life, adoption should be better than for all previous mobile Atom attempts on Intel's part.

10 still isn't as high as Intel hopes for though. Still, eventually, there should be 50 design wins.
