Needless to say, this means that a lot of energy is lost without people even knowing

According to a recent report shared with the public by non-profit organization the Energy Saving Trust, one in five energy-consuming products currently in use across Europe fails to meet its energy efficiency claims.

It goes without saying that this little glitch translates into the fact that quite a lot of energy is lost without people even being aware of it.

In fact, Click Green reports that the fact that one in five of the millions of products in Europe does not match its energy efficiency claims means that 10% of the potential energy savings stated are lost.

Apparently, ovens, fridges, washing machines, dishwashers, televisions, and computers are the chief culprits for these losses.

The good news is that the Energy Saving Trust is currently busy buying and testing some 25,000 products. The goal of this project is to determine which are properly labeled and which are not.

“We need to address the fact that consumers across Europe are not maximising the energy saving benefits stated by millions of products,” says Philip Sellwood with the organization.

“That’s why we aim to be the eyes and ears for UK consumers to ensure energy efficiency claims by product manufacturers are true and will save them money on their energy bills,” he adds.
