A 16-month-old baby was shot in Brooklyn and succumbed to his injuries on Sunday night.

Antiq Henni was shot in the head in the Marcus Garvey Village project in Brownsville after 7 p.m.

Commissioner Raymond Kelly informed that Henni's killer was after the baby's father.

According to Fox News, the child was in a stroller as his father was walking him to his grandmother's.

Neighborhood activist Tony Herbert notes that the shooter may be identified. Residents are aware of his identity and are working with the police to find him.

"We know exactly who the shooter is. [...] It was a beef between the shooter’s brother and the baby’s father," Herbert clarifies for the New York Post.

They had just left the home of the baby's mother, Cherise Miller. Four shots were fired and one of the bullets hit the child on the left side of the head.

The baby's father, 21-year-old Anthony Hennis started yelling out. Police recovered .45-caliber shell casings from the ground after the incident.

"I saw a man with a stroller screaming: 'My baby got shot! My baby got shot.' He was going crazy," describes witness Gina Gamboa.

Marcus Garvey Village authorities have expressed their condolences in a statement.

"I stand here again, but this time it's closer. […] I know the family, I’ve know the mother since she was 1. I was at the hospital with them last night. This is not easy. I was in the room with her when she got the news. I'm out here all the time, begging you to do something different.

"We have babies that we have to raise and they die here early because we are not taking time out to understand what life has to offer us. I'm begging you, this is hard. I feel defeated right now, " says Vice President Shirley Jones-Baisley.
