3D Realms news will be coming this year, but not about Duke

It's been well over a decade now and 3D Realms are still struggling with the release of Duke Nukem: Forever. What am I saying here? Its release?

Development is still well under way, as the company has barely managed to release a screenshot featuring an enemy monster. And even though 3D Realms' new creative director, Raphael Van Lierop, tells Gamasutra that he's played the game and that fans "won't be disappointed", their two upcoming announcements (due for the next 6 months) will not include Duke. Great...!

Here's the original post: "I can say that we have a big announcement coming in the next four weeks, and I'm not sure, but I believe we have another major announcement coming in the next four to six months... while I can't say exactly what these are, are they about Duke Nukem Forever? No." And the crowd goes Boooo!

That's right 3D Realms, you read that right: Booo! What exactly went wrong with the development? I mean, we know what happened before next-gen consoles came out, but after that, what kept you from finishing the game? I don't know... there are so many ideas floating around that they can't make up their minds as to what to implement first. If so, I have to say that the monster screenshot tells a totally different story.

Nevertheless, Van Lierop has confirmed that the game is alive and even understands the fans’ anticipation over its release, as 1UP posts. However, he also admits that 3D Realms has made some terrible mistakes along the way, the same site reports. "They [3D Realms' Scott Miller and George Broussard] will be the first people to admit that they made some mistakes with regards to Duke Nukem Forever. But I've seen it. I've played it. And I really believe that when it does come out people won't be disappointed."

And... that's it! Again, Duke fans go in the dark corners of their homes to start crying like little babies, and all this because 3D Realms can't pull their act together. Well, that and the sadistic title that I chose just to make them curious.
