THQ announces a new installment of the Worms series, entitled Worms: Open Warfare 2 scheduled for an exploding release onto the PSP system from Sony and Nintendo's DS with wireless handsets coming in time for the summer launch. Players will be able to challenge others from all over the world via multiplayer battles using a wireless connection as they command their worms through clashes that take place in famous battles of the past, as well as fictional fights of the future. Spanish Armada conquest in "Pirates!," the frontlines of real war in "World War II" and laser shooting spaceships in "Space War!" Are just of the few battles which gamers will be getting themselves into.

Worms: Open Warfare 2 has an additional feature to the classic Deathmatch mode available in the original installment of Open Warfare: multiplayer modes Rope Race, Fort, Puzzle and Campaign modes challenge players to use new strategies and teamwork to defeat their enemies. Also, the new Firing Range allows gamers to test their weapons skills, including 11 new weapons (e.g. Bunker Buster and Buffalo of Lies), as well as classics (the Super Sheep or the Concrete Donkey).

Taking the battle online, gamers will also receive daily updated stats and leaderboards on the official Worms website, enjoying the new, in-depth customization options (custom landscape, team flag editors, modified hats, tombstones and the famous victory dances for the worm teams).

Remember that Worms: Open Warfare 2 is scheduled for a summer release on the PSP and DS handheld gaming systems, with a specific month and day still to be announced.
