Following Capcom's announcement of planning to release the new Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix for the Xbox 360 and PS3 (via their Internet [admark=1]services XBLA and PSN), the developer started rolling out the first official images. Last week, it was Ken, performing a Hadouken. This week, it's Akuma. Looking good...!

You have the images to the left. Capcom says that the game will be running at 1080p, so I presume that seeing these highly defined characters in action will look superbly, given that there will be a colorful environment in the background as well. The developer actually says that this is what the characters look like if you take the background out, 1UP reports. Why they didn't leave the background there, beats me. It probably isn't finished yet.

A couple of months ago, when the same site mentioned the reviewed game, Capcom confirmed online play, a training mode, voice chat, rankings/leaderboards, different matchmaking options and stat tracking, for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. The game was slated for a fall release, because of timing differences between the download schedules for PS3 and 360, via PSN and XBLA. Although it is certain now that the two versions will not be available for download for the two services on the same day, Capcom's senior director of strategic planning and research, Christian Svensson, assured then that they "will be coordinating such that they are within a week of each other."

Further more, when the site asked whether all development was underway over at Backbone, Christian Svensson replied: "The programming and the project management is all being handled by Backbone, but there are multiple people working on this project. As I mentioned [in my speech earlier], Udon Comics is handling the majority of the art tasks as far as root creating all the art. Backbone will be pulling it all together, and making it all work."

Luckily, we'll get to see another tweaked up character next week (hope it's Vega), and maybe a little background there too...? God, I can't wait to see it finished! If only Midway did the same with Mortal Kombat II.
