14 DAY TRIAL // As tradition has it, each year, Maxim ranks the hottest female stars in showbiz with the aptly titled Maxim Hot 100 chart. For 2011, the honor goes to Victoria’s Secret model turned actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
As the men’s magazine puts it, it’s a hard job, but someone’s gotta do it, as the saying also goes.
“We'll never forget the day we got our Ph.D.’s from Hotness grad school. As the stuffy old dean pontificated about the responsibilities inherent in judging hotness, we shot spitballs and laughed the laughter of youth. What fools we were,” reads the introduction to the annual hotness chart.
“As we’ve learned from producing 11 years of the Hot 100, ranking the world’s hottest women is a grueling job (albeit one with a couple of noticeable perks). Enjoy the fruits of our labor,” it further says.
This year’s chart does bring some surprises: for one, last year’s winner, Katy Perry, has been bumped to number 3, while the hottest for 2009, Olivia Wilde, has managed to slip down to 15.
Another surprise is the occupant of the position number 20: country singer and overall darling Taylor Swift. She’s followed by Anna Kournikova, Eva Mendes, Megan Fox, Leighton Meester and the aforementioned Wilde of “House” and “TRON: Legacy” fame.
Proof that losing her job on the “Transformers” franchise was not the best thing that could have happened to Fox’s level of hotness, she is to be found, as you can see, at 17.
Scarlett Johansson, Kaley Cuoco, January Jones and Jordana Brewster pave the way for this year’s number 10, Jennifer Lopez, who is seeing quite a surge in popularity (and therefore hotness) these days, with a new album coming out and a good job as judge on American Idol.
Cobie Smulders, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Bar Rafaeli are the occupants of the last five positions of the top 10.
Top honors go to Mila Kunis, Cameron Diaz, Katy Perry, Olivia Munn and, at number one, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Though the decision to have Rosie named the hottest of the hottest continues to perplex many bloggers, it probably has a lot to do with the fact that she will be in “Transformers: The Dark of the Moon” and that, by the looks of it, she will look pretty stunning in it, while chased by killer robots.
