14 DAY TRIAL // After launching the ZUK Z2 Pro last month in China, Lenovo’s subsidiary ZUK is now focusing all of its attention on the upcoming ZUK Z2. The name shouldn’t be deceiving as this smartphone is surely not a downgraded version of the ZUK Z2 Pro. Recent rumors say that the ZUK Z2 will come with an Exynos 8890 chipset, the same one used on Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
ZUK Z2 won’t be a downgraded version of ZUK Z2 Pro, as many previously thought, and the company CEO confirmed that recently, when he posted information on the upcoming phone on his Weibo account.
ZUK Z2 will sport an Exynos 8890 processor, the same one that was used on Samsung’s flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. The processor is considered to be the equivalent to the Snapdragon 820, but some even believe that it might be more powerful than Qualcomm’s flagship SoC.
There are few details on the upcoming ZUK Z2, other than the fact that it might come with USB Type C and a 2.5D display with a contoured edge.

The back of the phone will be slightly different on the ZUK Z2 Pro, as the camera was moved from the central axis to the top left corner and it has a single LED instead of a dual LED dual-tone found on the model that was released last month. In addition, ZUK Z2 won’t have autofocus on the rear camera.
In September last year, Meizu released the Meizu Pro 5 phablet, which also incorporated the Exynos 8890 chipset, as well as other powerful components. Now, it seems that ZUK is following in Meizu’s footsteps and including this powerful chipset in its new smartphones.
Yesterday, an image of the ZUK Z2 was released online in order to increase the popularity of this upcoming device. The new handset will resemble the ZUK Z2 Pro, but with some spec differences. The smartphone is expected to be unveiled at the end of this month, but there’s no official information on the release date yet.
