14 DAY TRIAL // Just a few months after releasing the Grand X3, Chinese company ZTE has now unveiled the Grand X Max 2 phablet with an impressive display size and specs, all for the price of $200 (€179) in the US. The Grand X Max 2 will be available through Cricket Wireless this spring.
The ZTE Grand X Max 2 stays in the same price range as its predecessors, the Grand X Max and Max Plus, but delivers better performance thanks to more powerful specs. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 1.5GHz 8-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The Grand X Max 2 runs Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box, and it has a 6-inch full-HD screen, which isn’t as great as Samsung’s 2K Super AMOLED display, but then again, it doesn't cost nearly as much either.
ZTE Grand X Max 2 sports a 13MP rear camera coupled with a 2MP camera right below it, which is supposed to provide both sharpness and depth to photos. It comes with manual mode that provides control over shutter speed, and it also incorporates a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies. 1080p video can be captured with either the rear cameras or the front one.
USB Type-C ports and a 3,400 mAh battery with Quickcharge
The smartphone arrives with USB Type-C connectivity and features a 3,400 mAh battery with Qualcomm Quickcharge technology for long battery life and fast charging. The battery is set to last for up to 6.5 hours of talk time, and the Quickcharge technology provides 50% of battery after 30 minutes of charging.
It only comes with 16GB of storage, but it has the option to add an external memory card for up to 64GB more space. It also supports 4G LTE networks and offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 support. It packs a Hi-Fi audio chipset and Dolby audio for better sound quality. Dolby Audio also provides customized sound experience for music, gaming, voice and more.
The phablet is available in the US for $200 (€179), which is a fair price, considering the massive screen size and reliable specs that it offers.
