14 DAY TRIAL // A new Windows 10 Mobile build is expected to be released in the coming days, but in the meantime, more information about the features that could soon be available to insiders emerges through unofficial channels.
As we’ve told you already, Windows 10 Mobile build 14310 was spotted on a Lumia 950 XL at Build 2016 last week, and now in new screenshots posted by WinFuture, we can easily notice that there’s at least one unreleased feature in this version.
Active Hours, an option that’s not available in the current Windows 10 builds, will allow you to select the hours when you usually work on the device, so Windows Update can avoid rebooting to complete installing new updates.
“Active hours lets us known when you usually use this device. When a restart is necessary to finish installing an update, we won’t automatically restart your device during active hours,” the description of this new feature explains.
Custom restart time
Furthermore, there’s another option that enables users to select a custom restart time and which should override settings in active hours. “This option allows you to temporarily override active hours and schedule a custom time to finish installing this update. Make sure your device is plugged in at the scheduled time,” the description reads.
The first time we heard about Active Hours was in late March when information regarding such a feature for Windows 10 PCs first reached the web. It turns out that similar functionality will be available on all Windows 10 devices, including PCs and mobile devices, so expect the next build released to insiders to include it too.
Without a doubt, this feature will be part of the Anniversary Update coming in the summer, so for the moment Microsoft’s only planning to collect feedback to further improve it should any tweaks be necessary before the public debut.
