14 DAY TRIAL // Hype around “The Martian” started picking up serious speed earlier this year, when the first photos from the set were released, and reached peak with the debut of the first trailer. Directed by Ridley Scott and starring A-list actors like Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Donald Glover and Jeff Daniels, it promised a thrilling, well-executed experience.
And it delivered just that, as its strong box office opening and solid critical reception confirm.
As Ellen DeGeneres puts it, “The Martian” performed so well at the box office that studio bosses have already greenlit a sequel. It will be called “Stuck on Uranus” and will star Matt Damon (obviously) and Ellen herself, and introduce Kim Kardashian West.
With that last name, you probably got the joke in the title of the faux-sequel already. In the “exclusive trailer” Ellen obtained and played on her show, Kim makes a cameo as an expert in all things Uranus, while proving that, indeed, Uranus jokes never really get old.
Kudos to Damon for keeping a straight face while delivering lines like, “Even if I could make contact, it would take eight years for another person to reach Uranus,” and “I’m gonna have to explore the surface of Uranus,” “I wanna get off of Uranus.”
As for Kim’s “performance,” it’s exactly what you’d expect. She is, after all, a reality star. Enjoy!
