The company is evaluating each franchise separately

Microsoft has been talking a lot about its plans for gaming on PCs that are running Windows 10, but it seems that despite the big interest that the company has in the field, there are currently no plans to launch a version of Halo 5: Guardians for this platform, despite a lot of requests from fans.

Phil Spencer explained during a recent Build 2016 event that he was interested in making the company's new operating system, which is getting an Anniversary update later in the year, the best place on which to develop and play games.

But PC Gamer quotes the executive as adding, "In terms of Halo FPS on PC, I think there’s a ton of opportunity for us right now, but I don’t want to get into a world where we’re looking back, like at Halo 5. It doesn’t mean there’s nothing there that could ever end up on PC, but I’d much rather look forward with what our plans are."

Phil Spencer then said that fans of the franchise would be able to experience the coming Halo Wars 2 real-time strategy, which is in development at The Creative Assembly, on the PC before the end of the year.

The title will have unique features that will show off the way Windows 10 can improve gaming.

Microsoft wants to make sure that each platform has individuality

Spencer says that his team is carefully evaluating the devices on which it delivers each game that it is involved with because it does not want to force creators to make compromises and wants to avoid creating so-called Frankengames, which fail to impress regardless of the platforms they are launched on.

Microsoft has confirmed that from now on all titles linked to the Forza racing franchise will be offered at the same time on the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs, starting with the unnamed experience that will arrive this fall and will have the Lamborghini Centenario on the cover.

Presumably, the company will keep both Halo and Gears of War exclusive to the Xbox One for the time being to keep fans of the home console as satisfied as possible.

At the moment 343 Industries is working on extra downloadable content for Halo 5: Guardians, with Warzone Firefight, set to be launched during the summer for free, and The Coalition is working on the fourth full installment for Gears, which is set to launch before the end of the year.
