Otherwise, they say we should prepare our “rotten tomatoes”

Sony is still working on Android 7.0 Nougat for a couple of its smartphones, but the rollout has already begun and the Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ are now getting the update.

However, Google has already released Android 7.1.1 Nougat, another small but meaningful update that brings a couple of important new features and improvements.

Unfortunately, Google only releases Android updates to its Nexus and Pixel devices, so each handset maker has to customize their own updates after the search giant hands them the new builds.

The Japanese company was definitely not among the first to release the Android 7.0 Nougat update to its smartphones, but surely aims to be the first to deliver customers the newly launched Android 7.1.1 Nougat, which brings app shortcuts, new emojis and GIF support in some apps.

According to a new report, Sony’s dev team was very specific earlier this week and said that the “number 1 priority” is to provide customers with the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update as fast as possible.

The official went on to say that “if you spot any other vendor (excluding Google) releasing this faster than us, prepare your rotten tomatoes!

Well, we guess we'll be watching this closely and ready our rotten tomatoes if that's going to motivate Sony to finish the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update faster than any other handset maker out there (except Google).

The Xperia Concept developer team also informs Sony fans that it's already been given the source code of the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, but it's still waiting to receive the app suite (GMS apps) and Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) from Google.

Once they arrive and nothing bad happens, we could see Sony release Android 7.1.1 Nougat for a couple of Xperia smartphones by the end of the year. Stay tuned for more on this one.
