The company has announced the beta program ends today

Samsung has been running an Android Nougat beta program for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge for about a month now. There have been five beta builds released during beta testing, so those who've been accepted into the beta program got to test Nougat on their smartphones for several weeks.

But today the beta program ends and Samsung starts focusing its resource on delivering the final version of the update to both Galaxy S devices.

The information has been confirmed via an email received by beta testers. According to this email, the Galaxy Beta program will end today, December 30, 2016, which means that there will be no new beta versions released in the future.

Also, Samsung has announced that there will be no individual feedback related to “Error report” and “Suggestion,” and its engineers will continue to monitor what's happening via “Community” only.

But the best part is that the South Korean company has confirmed the final version of Android Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will arrive in January, 2017: “We would do our best to distribute the official version in January as soon as possible.”

Unfortunately, it's hard to say which version of the update some of the Galaxy S7/S7 edge will get, even though Samsung confirmed they would be upgraded directly to Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Some carriers have announced they are testing Android 7.0 Nougat instead, so it will eventually come down to what these carriers have been given by Samsung.

However, we do hope that the unlocked Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge unit will receive the highly-anticipated Android 7.1.1 Nougat update.

Samsung plans to release Nougat updates for a couple of other smartphones and tablets in 2017, including the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Tab S2, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, and Galaxy S6 edge+.

We doubt that there will be any other Android Nougat beta programs for these devices, but anything is possible with Samsung, so stay tuned.
