14 DAY TRIAL // As we're getting closer to the mid of the month, we expect Samsung to announce what caused its Galaxy Note 7 phablet to explode. The results of the thorough investigation should have been made public in the last couple of months, but the latest reports suggest the battery is not to blame for Note 7's issues.
The Korean media reports that Samsung SDI will be the main battery supplier for the upcoming Galaxy S8 flagship. It's the same company that provided the batteries inside the Galaxy Note 7 and the same that was (wrongfully) accused of delivering faulty products.
The South Korean company's battery division is most likely not to blame for Galaxy Note 7's recalls, as Samsung has already decided to include batteries manufactured by Samsung SDI inside its Galaxy A 2017 series smartphones.
A Samsung official has recently confirmed that Samsung SDI's large capacity batteries are installed in the Galaxy A 2017 series smartphones that will start selling in Europe this month.
However, Samsung SDI is not the sole battery supplier for the Galaxy A 2017 series, but it's definitely the company that supplies the highest volume of batteries.
Even though Samsung SDI repeatedly stated that it would continue to improve the manufacturing and testing process of its batteries, if its products were to blame for the Galaxy Note 7 recall, Samsung would never again include Samsung SDI's batteries inside its smartphones.
At the time of the report, it's said that Samsung SDI might supply more than 65% of the batteries for the Galaxy S8. The rest will probably be supplied by other companies like LG Chem and Japan TDK.
However, neither of the two battery suppliers confirmed any collaboration with Samsung, so we believe the companies have yet to reach an agreement. Hopefully, we'll find out more soon after Samsung announces the cause of the Galaxy Note 7's explosions.
