14 DAY TRIAL // Shortly after announcing the results of the Galaxy Note 7 investigations, Samsung has confirmed that its next flagship smartphone won't be unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.
So, those of us who have been waiting for a late February reveal will have to wait a while longer since the Galaxy S8 will be a no-show at the trade fair.
But when exactly will Samsung announce the Galaxy S8? Previous rumors claimed the smartphone would be launched on the market in March or April, but that didn't rule out a February reveal.
We reported not long ago about a source who claimed the Galaxy S8 would be present at MWC 2017, but it wouldn't be showcased for the public. The same source said the smartphone would be released on the market in the week 17 of the year, and that it would be announced on March 29.
Today, @Ricciolo, a reliable source of leaks, retweeted his previous tip and added a new piece of information that we didn't know. Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy S8 during a multiple city even that will take place both in the United States and Europe.
There's a high chance the launch event will be held in London, while Americans will probably be invited to attend the press conference in New York.
Our assumptions are based on previous launch events organized by Samsung in the past, but the South Korean company can decide otherwise.
Even though the Galaxy S8 will be announced on March 29, the smartphone will not be available for purchase until a month later. The report pointing to a Galaxy S8 launch for the week 17 puts the flagship's availability to late April.
If the report is accurate, then Huawei P10, LG G6, and a couple of other flagships will have already been released on the market before Samsung's Galaxy S8 could make its debut.
Would that be a major downside for Samsung? We'll probably get an idea as soon as the smartphone is made official.
