14 DAY TRIAL // Samsung is expected to release one of its most anticipated devices, the Galaxy Note 7, in about one week. However, the South Korean company is also working on other tablets, albeit with less powerful specs, so it’s no surprise that it has recently announced the entry-level Galaxy Tab J.
The tablet has recently been announced in Taiwan, but there has been talk about it ever since last year, when Samsung trademarked several products, including the Galaxy Tab J. The device comes with a SIM slot that allows users to accept voice calls and respond to messages while also connecting to 4G networks.
Considering that it’s an entry-level tablet, its specs aren’t exactly top-notch, but they do make for a satisfactory device, which sports a 7-inch WXGA 1280 x 800 display for multimedia playback and a 4,000mAh non-removable battery that should provide up to 9 hours of use, according to ePrice.
The tablet also comes with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded to 200GB using a microSD card.
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab J comes with Android Lollipop 5.1.1
The tablet features an 8MP rear camera with aperture f/1.9 and 2MP on the front. In addition, it has lots of connectivity options, including A-GPS, Wi-FI 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, and FM Radio. Samsung Galaxy Tab J runs Android Lollipop 5.1.1, which seems a bit unusual, considering that Google is about to announce Android Nougat 7.0.
However, the specs of this tablet aren’t exactly top of the line, so Android Lollipop could be quite suitable. It also runs the latest version of TouchWiz UI, pre-loaded with Kids Mode and S Bike.
The tablet is expected to hit the market in Taiwan in early August and will be available in two colors, Gold and White. Galaxy Tab J could carry a price tag of around $190.
