The Parsix GNU/Linux development team informed users of the Debian-based operating system about the availability of new security updates, as well as a new kernel version and the latest Firefox release for the GNU/Linux distribution.

First off, we'd like to remind the reader that the team unleashed last week the second preview release of the upcoming Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" operating system, and you are invited to take it for a test drive and report bugs if you encounter any. As usual, both Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" and 8.10 "Erik" get the same security updates.

The last Parsix GNU/Linux sync was on November 27, 2016, and since then, it looks like users received new versions of the GStreamer Plugins Good 1.0 and 0.10 multimedia codecs, ImageMagick collection of tools for manipulation images, Xen hypervisor, Icedove email and news client, ICU (International Components for Unicode), and HDF5 library.

"Parsix Developers closely follow Debian Security Advisories and port them to our own security repository. Right now we are offering security support for both of our stable and testing branches. Parsix Continent repository is also fully supported by security updates," reads the security page on the Parsix GNU/Linux wiki website.

Parsix GNU/Linux is now powered by Linux kernel 4.4.38 LTS

Besides all the security updates mentioned above, which have been ported by the Parsix GNU/Linux developers from the Debian Stable repositories, there's now a new kernel version, namely Linux kernel 4.4.38 LTS, for both Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 "Nev" and 8.10 "Erik," which brings various networking improvements and other bug fixes.

Lastly, it looks like the Mozilla Firefox 50.0.2 web browser landed as well in the stable repositories of Parsix GNU/Linux, that's why we recommend all users to update their installation as soon as possible. If you're new to this Debian-based distro, go ahead and download the Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 Live ISO images right now from our website.
