14 DAY TRIAL // Panasonic is a brand that has left the smartphone business long ago, but not entirely. The company still launches handsets in India and a few other Asian countries.
The latest addition to Panasonic’s portfolio of Android smartphones is called Eluga Arc, and for the time being it will only be available in India. According to a new report, customers will be able to purchase the handset for just Rs 12,490 ($185), which is a decent price for what the device has to offer.
The only downside would be the fact that Panasonic has decided to include Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system inside instead of Marshmallow. The company hasn’t even announced whether or not it will upgrade the software in the not-so-distant future.
However, the rest of the phone’s specs are pretty decent. First of all, the smartphone comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back side. It also sports a 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution and features 2.5D curved glass.
Snapdragon 410 chipset and infrared sensor
Hardware-wise, the Eluga Arc comes equipped with a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.
There’s also an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera.
Just like most of Android smartphones launched in India, Panasonic Eluga Arc offers hybrid dual-SIM support, so users can insert two SIM cards inside, or one SIM card and one SD memory card.
Besides dual-SIM, the smartphone also features 4G LTE with VoLTE support, 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS with AGPS support. Panasonic’s handset comes with an infrared sensor for remote control capabilities of different electronic appliances.
Last but not least, Panasonic Eluga Arc is powered by a 1,800 mAh battery, and it will be available in Gold color via online and offline retailers across the country.
