OnePlus 5 is one of the most anticipated smartphones to arrive this summer and OnePlus continues to build up the hype around the new device. OnePlus’ Pete Lau has just confirmed that the smartphone will come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 platform.

Both OnePlus and Qualcomm have confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 5 smartphone will come with the latest Snapdragon 835 platform, featured in a number of flagship devices which were launched this year, including the Samsung Galaxy S8 and HTC U11.

It’s not surprising that OnePlus 5 will use this powerful chipset, as rumors regarding this started circulating earlier this year. In its blog post, Pete Lau referred to the OnePlus 5 as “a smartphone with flawlessly smooth performance.”

Improved touch latency and quicker app load times

In addition, OnePlus states that Snapdragon 835 “sets the foundation for smooth, powerful, and efficient performance.” OnePlus 5 will feature faster loading times for apps and improved touch latency. OnePlus engineers used a high-speed camera to track screen movements and measure input speeds, in order to make apps respond to users quickly and provide a seamless experience.

Moreover, OnePlus added a feature to OxygenOS to help users better manage the way applications perform. Applications that are rarely used will be prevented from affecting the device’s performance.

Aside from this, OnePlus is expected to come with a fingerprint scanner in the front and a dual-camera setup on the back, which is developed in partnership with DxOMark. The phone will also feature 6GB of RAM and might have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The display size is rumored to reach 5.5 inches with Full HD resolution and a battery capacity higher than 3,000mAh. The smartphone will come with a USB Type-C port, while internal memory could be 64GB or 128GB. OnePlus 5 is said to carry a price tag higher than $650 and the smartphone is expected to arrive this summer, possibly in June or July.
