OnePlus’ flagship smartphone for this year won’t be called the OnePlus 4, but it will rather carry the OnePlus 5 retail name because of tetraphobia. Some information about the new smartphone leaked recently and renders also surfaced.

Renders portraying the OnePlus 5 reveal that the smartphone could come in a black hue, which was featured on the OnePlus 3T recently. The most interesting detail about the new render, which surfaced at IndiaToday, is the dual-camera setup on the back.

Previous rumors have stated that OnePlus’ flagship for this year will come with a 23MP dual-lens on the back, and the renders seem to confirm that. Moreover, it will have a LED flash and the OnePlus logo on the back.

However, the rear panel doesn’t seem to accommodate a fingerprint scanner, thus making us believe that the sensor will be located in the front. Sadly, the batch of renders doesn’t include an image of the front panel.

5.5-inch QHD display and Snapdragon 835 platform

That being said, the images show an antenna band at the bottom of the rear and hint towards a metal design, similar to OnePlus 3 or 3T. Other information about the new phone reveals a 16MP selfie snapper and a 5.5-inch QHD touchscreen display.

Qualcomm’s latest flagship platform, Snapdragon 835, could be incorporated inside the OnePlus 5, together with at least 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. Battery capacity is expected to reach 3,000mAh, while the smartphone could have a thickness of 7mm.

The report mentions that the render is based on descriptions provided by people who allegedly saw the phone and worked on it. Still, it’s worth mentioning that the design is subject to change and this might not be the look of the final retail version.

OnePlus is expected to announce the new flagship smartphone in June or July this year, and more information is bound to surface soon.
