OnePlus is expected to launch a new flagship smartphone later this year and recent rumors say that it will carry the OnePlus 5 moniker, thus skipping the number 4, which is considered bad luck in China. The formal term for this is tetraphobia.

The OnePlus 5 carrying model number A5000 was spotted in the database of China’s Radio Regulation Authority, according to AndroidPure. The OnePlus 3 had model number A3000, while the 3T carried the codename A3010, which means that the A5000 is most likely the upcoming OnePlus 5.

Sadly, the listing doesn’t reveal any details or specs about the new smartphone, but previous rumors have said that it will run the latest Qualcomm platform, Snapdragon 835, coupled with Adreno 540 graphics processing unit. One of the highlights of the new smartphone is its rumored RAM capacity of either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, although we’re leaning towards the former RAM configuration.

Possible dual-camera setup on the back

Display size should reach 5.5-inch with QHD resolution, while internal storage is expected to reach 256GB. A 3,000mAh battery is said to keep the smartphone’s lights on, while the device could come with a 23MP rear camera, possibly dual-lens, as an alleged leaked image showed.

When it comes to front camera capacity, rumors say that the smartphone could come with a 16MP selfie snapper and a price tag of just under $500. The device will most likely run the latest Android Nougat version with OnePlus’ OxygenOS UI on top.

Another interesting piece of information is the fact that OnePlus 5 could have a dual curved display, thus providing a premium feel to the phone. Rumors say that OnePlus could announce its flagship smartphone possibly in June or July this year, and as we draw near to the launch date, more information about the upcoming smartphone will surely surface soon.
