In the past years, Nokia has been using MWC events in order to announce new smartphones and other types of devices. And it seems that the company will do the same next year, as Nokia has announced that its CEO will be attending the Mobile World Congress 2017, and he could introduce new phones.

MWC 2017 is scheduled to take place between February 27 to March 2, and it’s the perfect opportunity for many smartphone makers to announce their latest devices. Nokia’s CEO Rajeev Suri is said to deliver a keynote at the trade fair and the company is expected to announce at least one Android Nokia-running smartphone.

After the partnership with Microsoft fell through, Nokia decided to license its commercial rights for the brand to HDM Global for the next decade. The first phones made by HDM Global are expected to be announced this year and might be made available for purchase by the end of 2016.

Nokia could announce several Android-running devices next year

Rumors say that Nokia will announce at least two Android-running devices next year, but there’s no official information that they would be unveiled during the trade fair, but this is very likely.

Nokia has been working on a massive 13.8-inch tablet, which recently appeared on benchmarking site GFXBench. The tablet appeared to run Android 7.0 Nougat and had a display resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Nokia D1C tablet also seemed to incorporate 3GB of RAM and ran a 1.4 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. In addition, it had 16GB of internal memory, but only 9GB were left for the user.

Rear camera capacity seemed to reach 16MP, with 8MP in the front for conducting video calls. The rear camera could also come with face detection and autofocus.

It’s unclear whether Nokia will announce this tablet next year during the MWC, but the company is also said to be working on two premium Android smartphones with some impressive specs, supposedly SD821 SoC and 22.6MP rear cameras, but take this information with a grain of salt as few details are available.
