Hopefully, things will change in the coming weeks

It looks like Nokia 6 is so popular in China that HMD Global can't keep up with demand. If you were wondering why the smartphone is selling so fast, here is some info recently provided by the Finnish company.

According to NPU, HMD has confirmed that it's not using the “flash sale” model in China for the Nokia 6, and the only reason the smartphone sold out so fast is the lack of stock.

Nokia 6 is exclusively available in China at JD.com, the only retailer that's selling the smartphone. HMD says that it provided the Chinese retailer with stock a couple of times, but they've been depleted in a matter of minutes.

But there's hope on the horizon, as the Finnish company says it will ramp up the production of the Nokia 6 since the Chinese New Year holiday is about to end.

Actually we have been updating the inventory on JD.com more than 3 times but those were usually gone within minutes or hours, so that’s why you have the impression that we were doing flash sales.

We will keep supply to JD for sure and now the Chinese New Year holiday is mostly over and everybody’s back for work, you can expect more supplies in the coming days and weeks,” says an HMD spokesperson.

If HMD can't cope with the demand of one smartphone, we wonder what the company will do once new devices are launched on the market. At least two new Nokia-branded smartphones are expected to be unveiled later this month at Mobile World Congress (MWC).

Even if they aren't available until late March or early April, the smartphones might be hard to come by if they are well received like the Nokia 6.

Obviously, that's not a bad thing from HMD's perspective, but customers will have issues finding the new Nokia-branded smartphones.
