Motorola has always been among the first companies to provide major Android updates to its smartphones. That hasn't changed this year, as the US-based handset maker has already kicked off the rollout of the upgrade in the United States.

The Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid, exclusive to Verizon, are already eligible for the Android 7.0 Nougat update, but their international counterparts are likely to receive the update soon.

But if you own a Motorola smartphone other than the two Verizon exclusives, it would be useful to know when exactly the company plans to release the long-awaited update. Even though Motorola confirmed the devices that will receive Android 7.0 Nougat upgrades, it did not provide exact time frames for these releases.

However, it looks like Motorola Germany was anxious to share some news about the Android 7.0 Nougat update roadmap and revealed the hot details through a couple of tweets.

Motorola fans in Europe will be pleased to know that their favorite company plans to release the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the Moto Z series on December 16, whereas the Moto G4 family is on track for an Android N update by the end of the year.

Another Motorola family of smartphones, the Moto X line, will be getting the highly-anticipated update sometime in early 2017. In the same piece of news, the Nexus 6 is expected to receive Android 7.0 Nougat in January, 2017.

Motorola's Android N update contains lots of new features and improvements, including an improved iteration of the Doze mode, multi-screen support for Android apps, as well as a new set of Unicode 9 emojis.

Although the information is meant for Motorola users in Germany, we have no doubt that the update will be rolled out in other European countries around the same time.
