Motorola intends to launch a number of smartphones this year, as a recently leaked presentation slide revealed. By far the most exciting phones that Motorola will unveil are successors to last year’s Moto Z models.

Bits of information regarding the new Moto Z2 smartphones continue to surface, as the Moto Z2 Play was recently spotted both on Geekbench and GFXBench, with some of its specs confirmed. The successor to last year’s Moto Z Play is expected to have the same overall size as its predecessor, but it might be a bit thinner, considering that Motorola reduced the battery capacity to 3,000mAh.

The battery capacity was one of the main highlights of the Moto Z Play and its successor will have to stun through other features. The Moto Z2 Play will be 6mm thick, compared to 7mm on its predecessor.

Moto Z2 Play could arrive at the start of June

Benchmark listings reveal that the Moto Z2 Play will come with a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 64GB of internal memory, with the option to expand to 256GB using a microSD card. Moreover, the screen will come with 2.5D glass, while the top bezel will accommodate a 5MP camera with support for Full HD video recording.

Moving on, the Moto Z2 Play will come with a single-lens 12MP camera on the back with support for 4K video and a LED flash. In contrast, the Moto Z2 Force is expected to come with a dual-camera setup on the back and more powerful specs.

Inside, the smartphone will run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 platform and come with 4GB of RAM. Android 7.1.1 Nougat will be pre-installed and the phone might feature ZUK’s ZUI, following Lenovo’s decision to discontinue the Chinese phone subsidiary.

Moto Z2 Play is rumored to be announced on June 8, together with the Moto Z2 Force. Motorola didn’t confirm the launch date, which means that it could be subject to change and the two smartphones might arrive later. Both phones will have support for Moto Mods.
