Note: this information comes via a Microsoft support account

Microsoft started the rollout of Windows 10 Anniversary Update for PCs a few hours ago, but contrary to what people expected, the mobile version got delayed, as the company still needs to fix a few more bugs before shipping it to users.

Although no details were provided on the release date, it turns out that the rollout could begin on August 9, according to the official Twitter handle of Lumia India. As spotted by WindowsLatest, Lumia India has tweeted that “for mobile, it will be available on August 9,” thus revealing that Windows 10 Mobile users will receive the Anniversary Update next week.

Before getting your hopes too high, there’s something you need to know: this tweet comes from a social account handled by Microsoft staff, and judging from what happened in the past, there’s a big chance that this information is inaccurate.

Previously, Microsoft social accounts posted all kinds of information that excited everyone in the Windows community, including announcements such as Snapchat and Pokemon Go coming to Windows phones. In the end, it all proved to be inaccurate details, so it is very likely that this is what’s happening with this new announcement too, especially since it doesn’t come from the main Lumia account, but from Lumia India.

Still no “official” release date

In the official press release rolled out by Microsoft, the company says only the following regarding the debut of the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update (without actually providing a date):

“Starting today the Windows 10 Anniversary Update will begin rolling out for our customers around the world. The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is full of new features and innovations that bring Windows Ink and Cortana to life; a faster, more accessible and more power-efficient Microsoft Edge browser; advanced security features; new gaming experiences and more. The Windows 10 Anniversary Update will start rolling out to Windows 10 Mobile phones in the coming weeks.”

Keep in mind that only devices running Windows 10 Mobile already will receive the Anniversary Update, and these include Lumia 1520, Lumia 930, Lumia 830, Lumia 735, Lumia 730, Lumia 640 XL, Lumia 640, Lumia 635 (1 GB RAM), Lumia 540, Lumia 535, Lumia 532, Lumia 435, and Lumia 430. Both the Lumia 950 and 950 XL are getting it too.
