Not really a secret, but it’s official evidence

Windows 10 Redstone 4 has already reached the final stage of development, and Microsoft is expected to compile the RTM and ship it to insiders this month, but no word has been said on the name of the update and the release date.

In a post on the Microsoft Developer blog, however, the company’s Helmut Wagensonner discusses Windows 10 versions and includes information on the upcoming Redstone 4 update, suggesting that it is projected to launch in April.

This isn’t entirely new information given Microsoft’s strategy of shipping two different OS updates every year, according to which new releases should be finalized in March and September for users participating in the Windows Insider program, while the production ring would get them one month later.

The table included in the post indicates that Redstone 4 would also be launched as version 1803, which is also a direct reference to the release date. Microsoft uses version numbers that represent the RTM compiling date, with the first two digits indicating the year – 2018 and the other two the month – 03, so it’s March.

RTM build

The odd tidbit of information in this blog post is the “initial build” for Redstone 4, which originally listed as version 17115, but was later changed to not available. Build 17115 can’t be the RTM version of Redstone 4 despite already being shipped to the Slow ring, and Microsoft has also released a newer build this week.

Despite all these unconfirmed details, there’s a good chance Windows 10 Redstone 4 is finalized this month and released for the first systems in April. The company hasn’t announced the official name of Redstone 4, but there’s more evidence it could be called “Spring Creators Update.”

More information should be provided very soon since we’re getting closer to the rumored launch date, and Microsoft is expected to release a public announcement on the Redstone 4 update any day now.
